Firefighters faced significant challenges battling a massive three-alarm warehouse fire in northwest Houston after two fire hydrants failed, as reported in Fire Engineering by Dan Landrigan.
Crews had to stretch thousands of feet of hose to access water. The fire broke out early Thursday morning at Olympia Drywall Co. on McAllister Road, Click2Houston reported.
Despite the intensity of the fire, no injuries were reported.
Houston Mayor John Whitmire said the city is plagued by an aging water infrastructure, and he pledged to raise the issue at the next city council meeting.
