Sto Launches Next-Generation Air and Water-Resistive Barrier Solutions

Sto Corp., the innovative world leader in claddings, air barriers, coatings, and restoration systems, announces the launch of StoShield SA and Sto GoldSeal STPE, next-generation air and water-resistive barrier (AWRB) solutions that are part of the complete Sto system of envelope technology.

StoShield™ SA is a high-performance, self-adhered AWRB available in two configurations:

  • StoShield SA VP – a vapor-permeable barrier that prevents air leakage and water intrusion while allowing moisture and vapor to escape, reducing the risk of trapped condensation.
  • StoShield SA NP – a non-permeable version that provides maximum protection by preventing both air and vapor movement, making it ideal for high-moisture or cold-climate applications.

With factory-controlled thickness, an aggressive primerless adhesive, and instant waterproofing, StoShield SA ensures consistent coverage, improved installation efficiency, and reliable long-term protection. The UV-cured acrylic adhesive bonds in cold temperatures and offers visual alignment through a printed grid pattern, streamlining on-site application.

Sto GoldSeal™ STPE is a premium, fluid-applied, vapor-permeable AWRB designed for superior performance in extreme conditions and jobsite flexibility. Formulated with solvent- and water-free moisture-cured chemistry, it offers:

  • Excellent adhesion across substrates, including glass mat gypsum, wood-based sheathing, concrete, and CMUs.
  • Fast, all-weather application – skins in one hour, cures in under twelve, and can be applied in temperatures as low as 20°F.
  • A safer jobsite experience – low VOC, isocyanate-free, and tin-free with no respirator required.

Compatible with StoGuard® detailing components and engineered for use with StoTherm® ci with Sto Fireblocking, StoPowerwall® ci, StoQuick® Silver, and StoVentec® Rainscreen® systems, Sto GoldSeal STPE simplifies sequences and enhances performance within Sto’s integrated envelope solutions.

“With StoShield SA and Sto GoldSeal STPE, we’re delivering advanced AWRB options that answer the evolving needs of modern building design,” said Craig Belrose, Senior Project Manager at Sto Corp. “These systems are optimized for performance, climate versatility, and install simplicity, backed by the reliability of Sto’s complete building system approach.”

All three products will be available starting July 9, 2025, across North America through Sto’s distributor network and sales channels. StoShield SA (VP or NP) and Sto GoldSeal™ STPE are also available for specification. For design professionals seeking a single-source partner for high-performance enclosure systems, Sto Corp. is a trusted choice.
